Alternative 1 (approx. 70 km): Drive across the bridge to Kvaløya (turn right when you leave the airport), then turn left and follow the shoreline until you reach the tunnel to Malangen. Drive through this modern tunnel (toll applies) then turn right when you exit the tunnel.
Follow the scenic road to Mortenhals then towards Meistervik. The route is well signposted and Malangen Resort is situated on the water’s edge. If you have time to spare, you can stop along the way and do some sightseeing or have a walk. See route on Google Map
Alternative 2 (ca 111 km):(These directions also apply if you are driving from the north via Nordkjosbotn) Drive to Nordkjosbotn (turn left when leaving Tromsø Airport and drive via Tromsø city) and take the E6 highway southwards. When you reach the Esso petrol station at Tømmerelv approx. 12 km south of Nordkjosbotn, turn right and drive towards Storsteinnes. When you reach Storsteinnes, turn right at the first intersection (beside the bank).
The road is signposted to Meistervik. About 5 km from Storsteinnes, the main road swings to the left before continuing to Meistervik. Continue straight ahead at the intersection towards Mortenhals. From here, it is around 10 km to Skutvik/Malangen Resort.
This alternative also offers many photo opportunities or you can stop en route and stock up on supplies at a supermarket.
If you are driving from the south via Målselv (or from Snowman International Airport Bardufoss), drive to Storsteinnes and follow the directions above. See route on Google Map
